The REACH Program has been serving post-stroke survivors and their families since 1989, with affordable classes taught by licensed and experienced therapists. Unfortunately, the existence of this valuable community resource is now threatened. Due to drastic budget cuts to community colleges, REACH was eliminated as a funded credit program in Summer 2010.
Heralded as a vital resource to our community, REACH has been reconstituted as an entirely self-supporting program. In order for the program to sustain itself, 100% of the costs of the program must be paid for by students and this has resulted in a nearly 600% increase in student fees. Many of the students and families of REACH, now limited by disability, are struggling to afford these necessary classes.
The Friends of REACH are asking for your help in order to continue providing vital rehabilitation opportunities to the students who need these classes most. Our goal is to raise $100,000 this year to ensure REACH is able to prosper now and into the future.
We sincerely appreciate your support.
